Evaluation of antioxidant enzyme activity ａnd the concentration of nitric oxide
Superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px) ａnd catalase (CAT) enzyme activities in the milk, plasma ａnd placenta were determined using commercially available kits (Nanjing Jiancheng Bioengineering Institute, Nanjing, China) in accordance with our previous study. The results of the measurements were expressed as U/mL in plasma ａnd milk ａnd as U/mg protein in placenta. Lipid peroxidation in the plasma,milk ａnd placenta was determined by measuring the amounts of malondialdehyde (MDA) through the thiobarbituric acid method using commercially available kits (Nanjing Jiancheng Bioengineering Institute, Nanjing,China). The results of the measurements were expressed as nmol/mL in plasma ａnd as nmol/mg protein in placenta. Nitric oxide (NO) ａnd inducible NOS (iNOS) in the plasma ａnd placenta of sows were determined using assay kits obtained from Jiancheng Biochemistry (Nanjing, China). The colostrum was analyzed for lactose,protein, fat, ａnd total solids with a fully automatic milk analyzer (Milko ScanTM FT+ Analyzer, Foss). The milk samples were analyzed for immunoglobulin G (IgG), immunoglobulin A (IgA), ａnd immunoglobulin M (IgM) using immunoglobulin-specific kits (Jinma Biological Engineering Co., Ltd., Shanghai, China).
